About this opportunity:

The Workforce Development & Training Manager is a newly created role, responsible for leading the new strategic priority of building a capable, skilled, and supported workforce, as OHV continues to invest in the development of our staff.

The position is specifically purposed to strengthen lived and living experience support and employment pathways into all areas of OHV, increase learning and development opportunities for all staff, and grow an AOD workforce for OHV and for the broader sector.

Accordingly, this position will also oversee and support the operations and viability of our Odyssey Institute which is the registered training organisation (RTO) of OHV, who deliver training courses aimed at the Community Health and Welfare Sector and the VicRoads Drink Drug Drive Behaviour Change Program.

Duties include but are not limited to…

  • Leading the development and implementation of a contemporary workforce development strategy aligned with the organisation's strategic plan, vision and values. This includes identifying staff professional development needs.
  • Exploring the development of a co-designed lived experience workforce strategy that includes designated and non-designated roles, tailored support offered to this workforce, and learning and development opportunities.
  • Establishing and nurturing strategic partnerships with external providers, industry experts, and educational institutions to ensure that staff are appropriately supported in their professional development.
  • Collecting and analysing each programs requirements to design the appropriate learning solutions to fill capability gaps in identified areas of need.
  • Overseeing the establishment and implementation of workforce development initiatives, including establishing clear processes, communication, implementation plans and reporting.
  • Improving the capacities and skills of OHV clinical staff in the provision of intersectional care and treatment to people and families. This may include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, and those who are from a CALD culture, identify as LGBTIQA+, are affected by family violence, trauma or problem gambling and/or have co-existing mental health issues etc.
  • Overseeing the functions and performance of the Odyssey Institute including development and delivery of a suite of training programs, new courses, and other initiatives
  • Ensuring all staff understand and are trained in appropriate policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Providing leadership and professional development opportunities and contribute to the work of the staff, flexibly responding to staff needs, and giving and receiving support and constructive feedback.

Key Selection Criteria:

We are looking for an experienced and individual to join our wider OHV leadership team and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.To be successful in this role, you must have…

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, or a related field.
  2. 3 years+ experience in workforce development.
  3. Extensive background in designing and delivering training programs.
  4. Familiarity with competency framework development and implementation.
  5. Experience with e-learning development tools and learning management systems.
  6. A keen understanding of current trends and innovations in workforce development.
  7. Flexible and adaptable, able to work autonomously and in ambiguous situations.

In line with OHV's Mandatory Vaccination Policy, all Odyssey House Victoria staff are required to hold Fully Vaccinated (Boosted) status, having also received the Booster Vaccination. Evidence of this minimum of three (3) COVID-19 vaccinations will be requested during the onboarding process and offers will be rescinded where such evidence cannot be provided.

All Odyssey House Victoria sites are smoke free for all employees.
