The Wadeye Safe House is looking for a passionate manager to support women and children affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence. We are immersed in remote communities, delivering family, domestic violence programs and crisis accommodation. You’ll work closely with Aboriginal communities to deliver national programs on a local level.

About you

  • Be eligible to work in Australia
  • 5 years' experience in similar role
  • High level of Aboriginal cultural knowledge and understanding
  • Experience living and working in a remote Aboriginal community
  • Ability to build strong links with the Indigenous population, groups, Clans and stakeholders in the Wadeye community and with other Safe House providers in the NT
  • Ability to self-reflect on your behaviours and decisions in the workplace
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully with local staff and all levels of One Tree staff and the local community
  • An effective, respectful and approachable leader
  • Experience leading a team, mentoring and inspiring staff by setting a good practice and work ethic
  • Create a workplace culture that supports good practice, quality services and reflects One Tree’s vision, mission, values and codes of ethics
  • Experience and understanding of family domestic and sexual violence
  • Provide secure crisis accommodation for women and accompanying children from all families/clans needing to escape violence, or the threat of violence, until their immediate safety issues have been resolved
  • Work with Indigenous staff in developing Safety Plans for women and children returning to their home from the Safe House including, where appropriate, to link with members of the community and organisations that can provide after support to women and children exiting crisis accommodation

Certifications and licences required

  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current NT working with children check card
  • First Aid and CPR Certificates
  • Northern Land Council Permit – residential/non-residential
