POSITION PURPOSE:

One Tree Planted is looking to hire a Director of Climate Partnerships to join our growing carbon team. This role will take the lead on large-scale, long-term corporate partnerships and ensure key clients have a consistent and reliable partner across their project portfolios. We’re looking for somebody with experience in environmental markets, who understands the complexities of long-term restoration projects, and can cultivate strong relationships built on trust, transparency, and communication.

One Tree Planted is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on global reforestation. As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

• Act as the primary contact for major global clients who are supporting large-scale global Nature based Solutions programs, primarily consisting of afforestation/reforestation carbon projects
• Provide regular program updates; participate in client meetings and represent One Tree Planted in strategic workshops and discussions.
• Work with the legal team to develop long-term agreements for carbon projects including setting milestones, invoicing schedules and timeframes for delivery of projects
• Ensure continuous compliance with contract timelines and deliverables, including invoicing and data management (Salesforce)
• Be responsible for the delivery of Quarterly and Annual Reports, coordinating content with multiple Regional Project Managers across global projects
• Work closely with finance team to ensure program budgets are set up and managed appropriately
• Support clients to develop partnership and program-level communications
• Provide thought leadership in the carbon space; remaining up to date on relevant industry news and advancements
• Assist in the development of internal processes to support high-integrity project delivery, including benefit-sharing, due diligence and risk management procedures

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum), Master’s preferred
• SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience with project development, account management and/or environmental markets
  • Strong understanding of the complexities, risks, and opportunities relating to Nature-based solutions and carbon credit projects
  • Experience working with high-profile corporate accounts
  • Strong communicator and negotiator
  • Fluency with platforms such as Salesforce, Sharepoint, G-Suite a plus
• IDEAL LOCATION:
  • Fully remote position based in Australia.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

• COMPENSATION: Starting range is 80,000 to 100,000 AUD, which will be based on skills and experience. Annual performance increase may be available but not guaranteed.
