The Role

The health, wellbeing and safety of our team is our number one priority and the purpose of this role is to ensure our health, safety and risk advice, support and resources are innovative, best practice and genuinely lived by the whole organisation. ​​ No day is ever the same, so the ideal applicant will be confident in a dynamic environment - we need someone who understands how to foster a risk aware culture where staff members are encouraged to adopt a positive and proactive approach to risk management.

In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:

  • Manage incident investigations, understand trends and advise team on controls and responses.
  • Provide proactive WHS support to team members & volunteers
  • Design impactful initiatives to create an embedded safety culture.
  • Visit shifts to listen and provide ongoing mentoring & advice
  • Report on the workplace health and safety program
  • Provide proactive facilities support & maintenance of Orange Sky buildings & assets
  • Manage emergency procedures, systems and ensure necessary training is completed
  • Manage the risk management framework.

We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role. You’ll be cool and collected, bringing your solid stakeholder management skills to work autonomously in a super-fast paced environment. Orange Sky is a fun place, but also a serious business with lots of moving parts. You know how to have lots of balls in the air that can’t be dropped and think on the fly. You’re self-disciplined, can turn your hand to a variety of tasks, and you just get things done.

To be successful at Orange Sky, you need a genuine passion for our cause. We want likeminded, intrinsically motivated people who’re keen to jump on board and hit the ground running as well as:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a WHS and Risk role preferably within a people / human service-based organisation.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective WHS programs and initiatives.
  • A commitment to contributing to a high-performing, results-oriented team.
  • Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to travel and work flexibly as required.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently, and within a team.
  • Proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for our cause.
