About the role

  • Hybrid and remote working arrangements available
  • Part time or full time (0.8 - 1.0 FTE)
  • Fixed term, 12 months (with potential for extension)
  • $98,825 - $103,784 + 11.5% super + 17.5% annual leave loading

Working within the Government Relations, Policy and Evidence Directorate, the Senior Advisor Policy and Government Relations will play a key part in advancing Our Watch’s engagement with Commonwealth, State, and Territory parliamentarians, government agencies, and the broader policy landscape. The role will support the organisation's work in influencing structural, legislative, and policy reform to prevent violence against women and promote gender equality. With a focus on monitoring, analysing, and synthesising information from across Australian jurisdictions including:

  • Provide expert, evidence-based policy analysis and advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, connect and collaborate with governments and experts and other key stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing development and delivery of evidence based and high-quality foundations for prevention.

There are several positions available with the expectations that the positions will work as part of a national team

About you

You will have a strong policy background, coupled with a detailed understanding of the prevention of violence against women evidence base. You will have an ability to work collaboratively with governments and stakeholders across jurisdictions to contribute to and guide the advancement of prevention of violence against women. To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate high level written communication skills. It would be advantageous to have relevant knowledge and experience in either:

  • Education systems and Respectful Relationships Education (RRE),
  • National monitoring of Domestic Family Violence, or Gender Equality
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary prevention policy.
