The Older Women’s Network NSW is a not-for-profit organisation that seeks to connect older women in the community by providing classes and other activities, as well as undertaking research and advocacy for the rights of older women. Established in 1985, the Network coordinates a base of 19 member groups and affiliates across NSW.

We are recruiting a Wellness Centre Coordinator for the OWN Bankstown Wellness Centre for 25 hours per week to take responsibility for the administration of Bankstown Wellness Centre and other OWN NSW projects. Hours can be flexible but will need to fit with activities in the Bankstown Wellness Centre. The role will be offered initially as a 12-month contract, with a high probability of renewal by mutual agreement and subject to the renewal of OWN NSW funding.

The role will be paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award, SACS Grade 4 Year 1 plus superannuation guarantee in line with current legislation.

Based in Bankstown, THE Coordinator will:

  • Develop, implement and maintain a program of activities for the Bankstown Wellness Centre (BWC)
  • Develop and implement strategies to heighten awareness of the BWC within the community and community service providers
  • BWC Operations and administration.
  • Maintaining BWC membership register and databases.
  • Assume an active role in community networks to support local initiatives for enhancing older women's health and wellbeing and other issues that concern older women.
  • Engage program facilitators and arrange for fill-ins to cover facilitator absences.
  • Develop, implement and maintain other OWN NSW projects as required.

It is essential for the Coordinator to have:

  • Experience working within the not for profit sector
  • Experience in delivery of services to people in the community services sector
  • Experience in working with and maintaining relations with stakeholders
  • Excellent skills in verbal communication, along with patience and a willingness to help people

The Coordinator will also be HIGHLY COMPETENT IN THE FOLLOWING:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing demands
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Computer applications – Email, internet searching, online subscriptions, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher
  • Numeracy – the ability to accurately account for petty cash, small amounts of incoming cash and to reconcile receipts with expenditure
  • Sound judgement and decision making
