We are seeking an experienced and effective leader to step into the role of Director of Services ACT. This significant leadership position is ideal for a forward-thinking leader with a collaborative and inclusive approach, eager to lead the delivery of strong, effective practices while exploring opportunities for sustained growth, collaboration, and partnerships. The Director will oversee OzChild services in the ACT, ensuring high-quality outcomes for children, young people, and their caregivers. You will guide and support Team Leaders in delivering services across out-of-home care, sustaining families, and youth justice, while informing strategic development and driving performance improvement initiatives. This role will report through the Executive Director of Services and Practice and be a member of the National Services Leadership Team, where the role will also contribute to achieving the broader strategic goals of OzChild across other States where OzChild delivers services.​

What a Successful Candidate Looks Like:

We are looking for a thought leader with a proven ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. You will have substantial practice experience in child protection, out-of-home care, family services, or youth justice. Experience in collaborating and partnering successfully with government, other community service organisations, and the broader community is essential.

You should be culturally competent in stakeholder management, building connections and relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, Elders, and community members.

Additionally, highly developed communication skills and the ability to engage people at all levels are critical. Experience with change management and a deep understanding of evidence-based practice are also crucial.​

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in social work, psychology, or a related clinical field, or equivalent business management field.​
  • Substantial practice, leadership, and management experience in a senior role.​
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practice and change management.​

What OzChild has to offer:

  • Salary, plus super and vehicle (or allowance) $167,597.32 - $172,216.12 depending on experience ​
  • Salary Packaging of $15,900 plus $2650 meals & entertainment ​
  • Ex Gratia days Easter & Christmas ​
