The purpose of the position is to provide Evidence based services that are internationally recognised as having the highest level of research validating the beneficial outcomes for clients. They are characterised by a clearly articulated theory, comprehensive employee training manuals, model adherence measures and on-going quality assurance systems.

The Family Practitioner - Functional Family Therapy - Child Welfare (FFT - CW) is a role within OzChild to strengthen the benefit of services to children, young people and their families in specified areas utilising an evidence informed program.

The evidence informed program and has been developed to support families, with children from birth to 18 years, in the home. This service provides families with structured training, implementation of problem-solving strategies, support to identify community-based resources and the review of outcomes

The program is facilitated by experienced and suitably qualified therapists who help identify strengths and challenges within the family behaviours, developing effective strategies for changing them within the family system

The FFT program has been tested with positive results to over 40,000 families a year across the globe that are at risk of involvement in the justice and child welfare system

To be successful in this role OzChild will provide the highest standard of comprehensive training in this evidence-based model to the successful candidate and ongoing intensive support.

What a successful candidate looks like

  • Bachelor qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Family Therapy or Psychology or relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience in a therapeutic environment ideally utilising recognised therapy practices such as CBT.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working within the out of home care sector would be highly regarded.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships and rapport with families and young people& your team.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the principles and challenges of supporting vulnerable families.
  • Understanding of the broad range of issues impacting on the community services sector.
  • Intermediate computer skills , including the MS Office suite.
  • Must have a drivers license and car.
