- This position is part time minimum 24 hours per fortnight, fixed term until 18th of December, 2022
The Parks Community Network provides a range of programs and services for our local community. We are looking for a motivated support worker to assist with the Youth Enrichment Program.
Key Responsibilities include:
- To assist the Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) Coordinator in the design, implementation and evaluation of the programs
- To co-facilitate or facilitate with the Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) Coordinator a supportive, safe, informal group learning environment (includes setting boundaries, ensuring compliance, negotiating, using sensitivity and promoting positive attitudes)
- Actively engage the young people in the planned learning experiences like excursions, skills workshops, discussions etc
- Provide individual and group support to the participants
- To operate as a team together with the Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator on issues affecting the Youth Enrichment Program and participants. (Share responsibility for the activities/program with Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator)
- To be responsible for implementing some components of the Youth Enrichment Program
- To be responsible for day-to-day operation of the Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) activities as negotiated (such as shopping, putting together resources, picking up and/or dropping participants etc)
- To undertake appropriate referral to local services for participants where necessary
- To work as part of the team at The Parks Community Network
- To assume duties as Acting Youth Enrichment Program Coordinator in his/her absence
- To assist in meeting requirements of funding bodies and preparation of submissions as required

- Ability to work with school students outside the school system
- Knowledge of education and employment services for young people
- Creative and innovative ideas for working with young people at risk
- Ability to work as part of a team and to show initiative
- Good communication skills
- Report writing skills
- Experience in working with young people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds and other disadvantaged groups
- Sound administrative skills
- Sound computer skills
