A total remuneration package of approximately $245,000 plus salary packaging of up to $15,900 per FBT year for mortgage, rent or living expenses is an indicative only. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with their qualifications, skills, and experience. - SES Band 1

About the organisation

Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is a company wholly owned by the Australian Government. AHL’s purpose is to provide safe, culturally appropriate and affordable accommodation for First Nations people who need to be away from home to access medical services, education and economic opportunities.

A Board of Directors appointed by the Minister for Indigenous Australians is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Company, consistent with the priorities and expectations of the Minister.

About the role

The General Manager, Business Development and Employment is a key member of the AHL Executive team working closely with and supporting the CEO and the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for building and aligning current and future organisational capability to deliver on strategic goals. In leading innovative business transformation and cultural change, you will focus on leading and managing the business development and communication.

Essential

  • This role is an affirmative Measures vacancy; therefore, applicants must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (Successful applicants may be required to provide documents pertaining to their Indigenous heritage)

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • You will have a strong commercial focus with significant experience in human resource management, business improvement and development, communications, and marketing
  • You can demonstrate an ability to engage, influence and build productive relationships with external stakeholders in developing and implementing key business improvements
  • Strong commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
