Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation (NATSIEC) is the national peak body representing Indigenous education. NATSIEC members are Indigenous Education Consultative Bodies (IECBs). In 2018, the IECBs raised the importance of establishing a community-controlled national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. In 2023, NATSIEC was established as the peak, independent, community-controlled, national voice on Aboriginal education. NATSIEC is registered with ORIC, a member of the Coalition of Peaks, and sponsored by the Federal Department of Education.
The Senior Media and Communications Advisor reports directly to the CEO of NATSIEC and will work collaboratively with other NATSIEC staff and board. The position is required to develop strategic media and communication plans while managing NATSIEC’s media space. This includes cross-platform media monitoring, crafting media responses and developing positive relationships with external stakeholders. The position operates with a high degree of autonomy to achieve results in an environment that is frequently changing, complex and presents issues that are often politically sensitive, and which require innovative and sensitive solutions. Additionally, you will be required to provide advice to the CEO and Board of NATSIEC.
