We are:

Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS), one of Australia’s oldest and most successful dedicated community legal centres with a vision of justice and dignity for refugees and a world where those who seek Australia’s protection can live their lives with dignity, security, family unity and freedom.

RACS is a not-for profit providing free, dedicated legal services to people seeking asylum and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families, at risk of persecution or other forms of significant harm, gain access to equal and fair representation before the law, and are granted protection by Australia, and opportunities to seek family unity, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations.

It's an exciting time to join RACS as we have recently grown our team having secured some government funding for projects.

The Role:

The primary focus of the position is to ensure the technology at RACS is fit for purpose, secure and stable to enable RACS to effectively and efficiently deliver legal services to those seeking protection and certainty in Australia and to grow funding and brand awareness that will support this.

The Head of Technology will report to the Director of Finance & Operations and manage two direct reports - the IT Support Officer and Data Integrity Officer. This position is based on site at our Randwick office and is a full-time 12-month contract with potential for extension.

Travel throughout metropolitan Sydney and work from our key locations in Parramatta and Auburn may be required from time to time.

You will:

  • Lead information technology strategy, planning, cybersecurity and investment decisions
  • Work with the subject matter experts in different areas of the business to ensure they have the appropriate technology to enable their success
  • Lead new system and platform implementations, including ongoing monitoring, testing, integration and upgrading
  • Manage all external information technology vendors and service providers
  • Manage the IT Support Officer and Data Integrity Officer

You are:

An IT manager with a passion for ensuring businesses have the right technical solutions to meet their operational and strategic goals. You’re looking for an opportunity to use your technology expertise to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable people. The successful candidate will have the following:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position, preferably in a small-medium enterprise or not for profit
  • Understanding of CRM systems or databases, preferably Salesforce
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels and technical proficiencies
  • Demonstrated business analysis and project management skills
  • People management skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to evaluate, improve and implement systems

Desirable

  • Experience working or volunteering in a Community Legal Centre or not-for-profit organisation.
  • Communications skills in a language other than English will be considered highly favourably.

Salary

The remuneration for this position is negotiable, appropriate to a medium sized not-for profit. Salary packaging is available to enable you to reduce your taxable income.
