About the Role

As an ‘all-rounder’ HR generalist, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR and payroll operations for less than 30 people. This role provides advice and support to management and ensures compliance with relevant legislation, policies and the Enterprise Agreement. Duties include recruitment, onboarding, compliance training and the full spectrum of the employee lifecycle. Working closely with the Finance Officer, you will also manage the fortnightly payroll process, including timesheet processing, wage preparation and payroll reconciliation.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

• Expertise in Payroll and Financial Operations: Proven ability to manage the fortnightly payroll process, including timesheet processing, wage payments and reconciliation, using finance/payroll software such as MYOB and Excel.
• Strong HR Support and Advisory Skills: Experience providing advice on HR policies, leave, performance management and grievances, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Enterprise Agreements, Fair Work Act).
• Proficiency in Recruitment and Onboarding: Demonstrated ability to handle end-to-end recruitment, induction and onboarding processes, ensuring seamless integration of new staff and adherence to organisational standards.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Compliance: Competence in maintaining incident records, conducting safety audits and coordinating with the Health & Safety Committee, while adhering to the OHS Act and procedures.
• Policy Development and Review Experience: Skill in contributing to the development and review of HR and OHS policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and best practices.
• Ability to Support Staff Training and Development: Experience in coordinating and delivering staff training programs, promoting professional growth and ensuring compliance with organisational development goals.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related fields (minimum degree level) with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a human resources role, preferably in the community / education sector.
• Minimum of two years experience undertaking payroll of comparable size to RUSU
• Willingness to support accounts payable and receivable accounting processes when Finance Officer is on leave.
• A valid Working with Children Check and successful police check.
