Join our team as a CALD Mental Health Worker and make a meaningful impact in the community! In this fixed-term part-time role (60.80hrs/fortnight until 1 May 2025) at our Head to Health Hub in Roselands, you'll support individuals in mental health distress, particularly from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

About the Program

The Head to Health Hub:

  • provides accessible, affordable mental health services and support in the community
  • reduces pressure on Emergency Departments, and
  • support GPs to provide treatment and care to people with mental ill health.

About the Role

The Mental Health Worker will support people in mental health distress, after triage from the Mental Health Hub Clinicians, through information and referral pathways, to resolve risk factors to mental health and wellbeing and provide short-term support, where people cannot easily access other required services.

You will have a detailed knowledge of the effects of mental health on culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) populations, particularly around how CALD populations use services and how engagement of these communities might be improved.

Your skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health and related fields; minimum Certificate IV Mental Health or equivalent and 2 years’ experience in mental health work.
  • An understanding of the recovery-based and trauma-informed approach to support people with mental health concerns.
  • A detailed knowledge of the effects of mental health on CALD populations, particularly around how CALD populations use services and how engagement of these communities might be improved.
  • Fluency in CALD language/s and English. Speakers of Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi, and Mandarin and other community languages of the region are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing a recovery-focused plan, providing support and following up.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive, honest, and productive relationships with people who live with mental health concerns.
  • Knowledge of the NSW mental health system and local services; or demonstrated ability to rapidly develop this knowledge.
  • Ability to exercise personal responsibility and work as part of team, with the support and guidance of the Manager.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in all interactions with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy to use Microsoft programs and the capability to learn other applications.
  • A current driver licence and access to a fully insured vehicle.
