Title of position: Cafe and Catering - Business Manager, Crafted Culture

Report: Head of Social Enterprise

Hours: 38 hours/ week - Mon-Fri (negotiable) (working hours may depend on catering order requirements)

Location: Richmond, VIC 3121 (travel may be required around Melbourne for catering orders)

Salary: Range between AUD $60K - $70K depending on experience (Restaurant Industry Award) + 11.5% Employer-contributed Superannuation + 17.5% Leave Loading

About the role

Crafted Culture cafe, powered by SisterWorks, is a small social enterprise cafe & catering business in the heart of Richmond. This provides a pathway for Sisters to gain critical work experience in hospitality. A a couple of years on, we're looking for someone who is is ready to take the next step in their hospitality career. This is an opportunity to manage and develop this important part of the SisterWorks program and needs a multi-tasking professional with experience in hospitality, experience in training and managing casual staff and possesses great interpersonal skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

This role manage cafe, catering, and food production operations, ensuring high service standards, product quality, and team coverage. The cafe has approximately 50-70 walk-in customers daily and has a capacity of 20 pax seatings, while we have the capacity of having 1-2 caterings maximum per day with our small commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities include handling POS, logistics and inventory management, overseeing financials and sales growth, and collaborating with marketing for promotional activities. Customer service is key, with a focus on building relationships and maintaining cleanliness.

Financially, the role oversees profitability, loss prevention, and reporting. It also involves recruiting, training, and motivating team members to uphold operational and customer service standards, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The role requires team supervision and coordination with staff to maintain consistent service. 

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the experiences for women with a migrant, refugee and seeking asylum background living in an Australian context
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with people from CALD backgrounds
  • Forward thinking and organised
  • Good business acumen
  • Team player with leadership quality and experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in the hospitality industry

Desirable experience and qualifications:

  • Knowledge of reporting and analytics
  • Food Safety Supervisor certificate
  • First Aid certificate

Compulsory requirements:

  • To be eligible for employment with SisterWorks you must be legally entitled to work in Australia and have satisfactory background checks prior to employment, such as mandatory police check and working with children check.
