The role of Marketing and Engagement Lead at SisterWorks encompasses organisational communication, marketing activities and community engagement via social media, events and fundraising. Having completed our rebranding and launched our new website and online shop in the past 18 months, we are heading into our next 10 years with refreshed platforms for you to work with and step up into the next level of your career.

You will be confident and interested in working with and creating a positive impact for the migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women of varied cultural backgrounds engaged with SisterWorks, by building effective internal and external relationships.

The role requires strong organisational skills and results-driven focus to develop a collaborative work environment to create, design, implement and evaluate highly effective marketing and communication initiatives within agreed budgets, timeframes, and to SisterWorks stakeholder satisfaction.

This is a part-time role with 0.8FTE (8 days per fortnight) - negotiable.

About The Role

The Marketing and Engagement Lead is pivotal in SisterWorks development and delivery of all organisational communication and marketing and responsible for continuing to develop presence and maintaining the organisations’ brand, identity, and public profile, while ensuring all communications and publications are on brand.

Priorities include: the creation and production of SisterWorks organisational collateral and digital communications, analysing key audiences and insights, and establishing and maintaining reporting and analytics for marketing and engagement activities and initiatives.

The role works collaboratively with the Programs, Social Enterprise, and Engagement teams to design and implement coordinated channel marketing strategies, which drive participation and revenue. The role also provides critical assistance with SisterWorks’ Engagement strategy and events as needed.

You will be part of the operations team delivering on our SisterWorks marketing strategy which has been developed to unpin all aspects of SisterWorks including social enterprise online and retail sales, production hub activities, program and employment opportunities and SisterWorks overall.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Be part of the collaborative process to develop innovative content from concept and topic development to scheduling of digital marketing and social media. You will be able to source relevant inputs from SisterWorks teams to create and coordinate engaging content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), website, newsletter, annual reports, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO, Head of Partnerships and Growth, and SisterWorks Programs and Social Enterprise to ensure a seamless user experience across websites, mobiles, videos, emails, blogs, content marketing, social media platforms, collateral (flyers, annual reports, etc) and organisational events.
  • Delivery of an annual work plan, and workflow processes to incorporate the communication needs of SisterWorks organisational, Programs and Social Enterprise offerings.
  • Manage paid amplification of content via, but not limited to, Facebook and LinkedIn, and analyse performance metrics, and provide actionable insights for optimisation.
  • Conduct monthly and annual multivariate, content and marketing analyses (SEO, target groups, effective campaigns, competitors etc) and utilise analytics tools to gain customer insights and improve content, user experience, increase engagement and conversions across all channels.
  • Community engagement and monitoring social media accounts.
  • Prepare copy content and coordinate photoshoots and video production to record SisterWorks and Sister stories.
  • Manage maintenance of the SisterWorks’ website setting up and monitoring content, dashboards, benchmarks and processes to ensure that we continue to optimise performance, campaigns and run reports to ensure we are meeting our target.
  • Monitor & ensure adherence to the SisterWorks brand and style guidelines across the organisation, including redeveloping the brand identity for organisational collateral and digital communications (edms, social media platforms, annual report, industry, and advocacy campaigns, etc)
  • Be the first point of contact for media enquiries into SisterWorks, to assess the validity of the approach, making recommendations to CEO on action to be taken and consistency of initial messaging. Approval of specific engagement with media will remain the remit of the CEO, however you may be required to coordinate/oversee media engagement and provide high standard, consistent and accurate content, advocacy pieces and media releases.
  • Support the development and implementation of marketing strategies for the organisation, where necessary
  • Support the development and implementation of internal communications systems and content.
  • Support the development and implementation of program communications across SisterWorks’ programs and services.
  • Participation in designated SisterWorks events on weekends and evenings may be required from time to time,
  • Remain up to date with existing and emerging technology, best practices, communications platforms, and delivery to inform recommendations to the organisation

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or similar along with 2+ years previous experience in similar roles (not for profits, cultural festivals, fast-moving consumer goods marketing, etc)
  • Project management experience demonstrating ability to develop integrated content projects (videos, images and copy) optimised for social, mobile and digital platforms
  • Proven knowledge of SEO principles and experience in producing SEO-optimised content utilising data and analytics
  • Highly skilled in a range of communications systems including Microsoft Office suite, Mailchimp, social media platforms and scheduling tools (ex Hootsuite), WordPress or other content management systems, and ability to learn new systems quickly and effectively
  • Exceptional writing skills with demonstrated experience in writing high-quality content for a range of audiences and communications platforms
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in (or ability to quickly learn) basic use of creative software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
  • Proven experience and ability to manage own workload, yet work flexibly with a small, efficient team and competing demands in a busy and diverse environment.
  • In person/live event management will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of the migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker and/or community sector or vulnerable women’s groups in Australia will be highly regarded.

Compulsory requirements

To be eligible for employment with SisterWorks you must be legally entitled to work in Australia and have satisfactory background checks prior to employment, such as mandatory police check and working with children check.

A current driving license would be looked upon favourably as there may be some need to travel to various locations and transport equipment.

Willing and able to carry equipment weighing less up to 10kg.
