We are seeking an experienced Recruitment Consultant to manage and support the on going recruitment at Stepping Stone House supporting all functions and levels. As Stepping Stone House expand our services, our team will also be growing in size.

About Stepping Stone House

Stepping Stone House is a not for profit charity that provides accommodation and personal development for children and young people aged 12-24 years old who through no fault of their own find themselves homeless, at risk of homelessness or unable to live at home. It is an accredited out of home care residential service providing medium to long term accommodation across three homes in Sydney. Furthermore, it provides after care support to graduates up to 30 years of age. At Stepping Stone House we encourage personal growth and development of children and young people with the aim of empowering the individual to achieve responsible independence.

To be successful in this challenging role – you will need to be hard working, be flexible in your approach, enthusiastic and show empathy, patience and respect for the people you work with. You will need to be a self- starter, be honest in your approach and have passion for changing the lives of young people.

What you will be doing – Key responsibilities:

  • Arranging for advertising of job vacancies, interviewing and testing of applicants, and selection of staff
  • Maintaining personnel records and associated human resource information systems
  • Arranging the induction of staff and providing information on conditions of service, salaries and promotional opportunities
  • Receiving and recording job vacancy information from employers such as details about job description, wages and conditions of employment
  • Providing information on current job vacancies in the organisation to employers and job seekers
  • Undertaking negotiations on terms and conditions of employment, and examining and resolving disputes and grievances
  • Studying and interpreting legislation, awards, collective agreements and employment contracts, wage payment systems and dispute settlement procedures including but not limited to the Office of the Children’s guardian standards and SCHADs award.
  • Ensures SSH staffing and recruitment Policies and procedures are in line with the contracting requirements for the Department of Communities and Justice in line with Intensive Therapeutic Care
  • Support with human resources administration across the business from time to time

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in relevant social sciences (eg social work, social science, psychology) and/or human resources.
  • Over 3 years’ experience in recruitment and policy development
  • Knowledge of legislative, governance and accreditation requirements for residential services
  • Demonstrated track record in efficiently designing, documenting and operating according to procedures and standards that achieve and maintain government accreditation
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft word and excel.
  • Effective management of relationships with external agencies
  • Willingness to travel to different Stepping Stone locations to meet with key stakeholders across Sydney metro area

Stepping Stone House provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.    Salary and Conditions of employment are based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award level 5. Salary packaging is available.
