About You

A critical and high impact role in our People and Culture team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of safety and wellbeing initiatives. The Manager Safety & Wellbeing will work closely with their WH&S Specialist, the Head of Operations & reward, business leaders, and employees to create an environment where people are inspired to generate ideas and solutions and create a culture of ownership. The role will have a pragmatic approach to safety and risk taking into account all factors including business drivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the SSI Safety & Wellbeing Strategy
  • Ensure Safety & Wellbeing policies and procedures are maintained and fit for purpose
  • Develop SSI’s Innovate, proactive and contemporary approach to wellbeing
  • Management of end-to-end work cover claims process through to resolution
  • Influence the leadership culture of WH&S moving it from compliance to leadership ownership
  • Guide and support the business in the event of significant incident investigations
  • Collaborate with the business to identify risks and develop mitigations strategies

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in Workplace Health & Safety
  • In Depth knowledge and experience of OHS legislation, Codes of Practices and Australian Standards
  • Working with a multi-site and mobile workforce across multiple business programs
  • The ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead people
