About St Vincent de Paul Society

For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Under our Good Works umbrella we have many services and programs, including Vinnies Shops,  soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assists some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

The Position:

As a Talent Acquisition Advisor at St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and attracting top talent to support our mission of serving the most vulnerable members of our community.

Recruiting across the Society (which includes Vinnies and VincentCare), you will collaborate closely with hiring managers and HR colleagues to develop and execute effective recruitment strategies, ensuring the organisation has the right people in place to drive our mission forward.

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and develop tailored recruitment strategies.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting and sourcing candidates to interviewing and making offers.
  • Utilise various sourcing methods, including social media, job boards, and networking, to identify and engage with diverse talent pools.
  • Screen and assess candidates to ensure they align with our values and mission.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, such as universities and community organisations, to enhance our recruitment efforts.
  • Provide guidance and support to hiring managers on best practices in recruitment and selection.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our recruitment processes and systems.
  • Uphold our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of recruitment.

 The Person:

  • Proven experience in talent acquisition (inhouse or agency).
  • Strong understanding of recruitment best practices and legal compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience working with an integrated candidate management system, human capital management system or ATS (applicant tracking system).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and HR business partners.

Why work for us?  We offer:

  •  Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here! It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
  • We like to have a laugh and you will always find some sort of chocolate or cake in our work area… be prepared!
  • We make an incredible difference in the lives of over 300,000 people every year.
  • We offer a place where you know you are contributing to an organisation committed to helping others. We are passionate about #Social Justice.
  • We have some great talent who are happy to share their experience and skills to help you on your way.
  • We are complex in our design which always makes work interesting.
