Your Role 

As the Government Relations Adviser you will play a critical role in developing, coordinating and implementing government relations strategies and activity to support the Society NSW’s advocacy goals and service needs. Along side the Government Relations and Policy team, you will develop build and maintain strong relationships with government entities and external stakeholders.

Your Responsibility 

  • Support the Director, Government Relations to execute a government relations plan aligned to the Strategic Plan.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials and policymakers, and relevant agencies to advocate on behalf of the organisation to address shared concerns, build partnerships, and promote strategic priorities.
  • Support directorates in sourcing and tendering for government funding.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments to identify potential opportunities and risks.
  • Facilitate representation by the organisation in government meetings, hearings and other forum to communicate key messages and influence decisions.
  • Establish and develop relationships with key external stakeholders and collaborate Monitor, analyse and report external trends, public opinion and key stakeholder perspectives.
  • Conduct research and analysis on political, economic, and social factors relevant to the Strategic Plan and the organisations operations.

You Will Need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s and significant demonstrated experience and expertise in government relations with a strong understanding of the NSW political landscape and legislative processes.
  • Proven track record of successful advocacy and influencing public policy.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Exceptional relationship building and influencing skills and the ability to effectively interact with government officials, external partners, executive leadership, the Board and Membership.
