The Role

St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research (SVI) is concurrently recruiting for a permanent Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager. This job ad is for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator.

Reporting into the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Manager, the HSW Coordinator will play an important role in promoting a safe and healthy working environment at SVI.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for responsible for supporting the daily implementation of health, safety, and wellness policies and procedures. This role involves conducting regular workplace inspections, collecting and analysing safety data, providing training, maintaining comprehensive documentation, and assisting in incident investigations.

A part-time arrangement of 3-4 days per week (22.8 – 30.4) will be considered for the right candidate.

Who we are seeking

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven HSW Coordinator with the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a scientific environment, ideally in a bio-medical laboratory environment.
  • Good understanding of OHS legislative frameworks and associated Australian standards, regulations and codes of safe practice.
  • Experience in the application of safe practices, hazard identification and management in a laboratory environment.
  • Good understanding of laboratory processes, standard laboratory equipment, chemical handling and storage.

To be considered you shall be required to provide evidence you have permanent working rights in Australia or hold a relevant visa with full working rights, as well as being fully vaccinated for COVID-19. You will also be asked to undergo a police check.

Salary Range:

$83,965 to $92,655 (pro-rata for part-time) per annum plus 11.5% superannuation. In addition, we offer up to $15,900 FBT exempt salary packaging and up to $2,650 FBT exempt meals and entertainment packaging. Salary applied will be dependent on successful candidates’ current level, experience and qualifications.
