The Link Youth Health Service offers a diverse range of services to improve the health and wellbeing of young people aged 12-25 years in southern Tasmania. All services are free and confidential. Services include Alcohol and Other Drugs, headspace, Youth Health Fund and Open Access area.

headspace Centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health, alcohol, and other drugs and/or work and study support.

About the role

We are offering a role of Vocational Specialist in the team at our headspace Hobart office. headspace Hobart is seeking a committed, passionate, and supportive person to provide specialised vocational services to young people who are referred for employment and education support as part of their care at headspace.

Vocational Specialists support young people aged 12 to 25, who are experiencing mental ill-health, using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model. Vocational Specialists work in tandem with the headspace clinical teams and engage with young people to ensure they are well-supported to obtain and maintain education and employment.

Skills, experience, and qualifications

  • Ideally possess extensive experience and/or tertiary level education in employment services, social work, teaching, youth work or other health-related discipline.
  • Knowledge, experience, understanding and passion for the health and wellbeing of young people in gaining employment.
  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience vocational planning and employment lead creation.
  • Well-developed computer, technology, and administration skills
  • Current driver’s license
