Overview

Reporting to the COO and working alongside TMC’s Finance Manager, the HR Advisor role is crucial in supporting the employees of The Man Cave. This position involves providing expert generalist HR guidance, assisting with employee and industrial relations, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, and supporting the booking of flights and accommodation. Your contributions will help foster a positive and inclusive workplace, ultimately enhancing our capacity to serve our community effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Serving as the initial contact point for employee HR inquiries, ensuring timely response, escalation, or appropriate triage.
  • Collaborating with the organisation to provide effective support and advice on employee relations and operational matters.
  • Developing, implementing, and regularly updating HR policies while promoting positive working relationships and effective communication across the organisation.
  • Overseeing the complete lifecycle of assigned units and staff members, including interviews, onboarding, recruitment, talent retention, and performance management.
  • Working with the COO to create and implement employee retention and development strategies.
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts to enhance employee support, OH&S practices and employee empowerment.
  • Supporting the research, design, and implementation of HR projects, such as employee engagement surveys and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Travel Support

  • Coordinating the booking of flights and accommodation for the TMC team, ensuring seamless travel arrangements.
  • Managing and coordinating travel movements for the TMC team to support operational efficiency.

Cultural Leadership

  • Subscribe and make best efforts to enact TMC’s values and cultural behaviours, as well as receive and implement feedback where cultural course-correction is needed;
  • Participate in Man Cave cultural practices such as biweekly WIP and fortnightly honourings when these fall on your working day and where possible; and
  • Work effectively with the broader TMC team and community, including being a positive representative of TMC internally and externally.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Human Resource Management or a similar tertiary qualification
  • At least 2 - 3 years of experience in a HR, People & Culture or DEI role
  • Ability to work from the TMC office (Brunswick, VIC) for at least 2 days per week

Key Selection Criteria

  • Proven ability to manage and respond to employee HR inquiries effectively, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate escalation or triage when necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with various departments to provide comprehensive support and advice on employee relations and operational matters, fostering positive working relationships and communication.
  • Extensive experience in developing, implementing, and updating HR policies, with a focus on employee development strategies, and continuous improvement to enhance employee support and empowerment.
  • Strong track record in overseeing the full lifecycle of staff management, including recruitment, talent retention, and performance management.
  • Experience in supporting the research, design, and implementation of HR projects, such as employee engagement surveys and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
