The Company

Our client, Leading Harvest, is committed to increasing adoption of sustainability practices in agriculture. It was formally organised in the U.S. 2020 by and for stakeholders across the agricultural value chain—from farmland owners to companies and communities. Leading Harvest launched in Australia in March of 2023 after two years of piloting its programming. Currently 1.2M hectares are enrolled in its program globally, with 540,000 hectares in Australia.

The Leading Harvest standard provides a framework to help farmers and farm managers methodically tackle agricultural sustainability and make verifiable claims to the market while strengthening credibility, reputation, and social license to operate. In addition to farmers and managers, Leading Harvest works with companies in the supply chain, like Nutrien Ag Solutions, Deere, Cargill, and Nestlé USA to advance responsible, sustainable, and regenerative sourcing objectives.

The Role

The newly created role of Membership Coordinator will report into the General Manager of Leading Harvest based in Australia and support the development and management of membership activities.

Providing a central point of contact for all queries this role is key to ensuring high levels of membership engagement and the promotion of Leading Harvest work in both Australia and the USA.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Coordinate Program Users

  • Work with teams in Australia and the USA to manage membership activities and engage members.
  • Serve as a liaison and promote members' successes.
  • Support certification promotion and event development.
  • Assist GM in building strategic relationships with senior staff.

Support Project Work

  • Manage communication, schedules, and budgets for special projects.
  • Organise meetings and events for stakeholders.
  • Assist GM in delivering the work plan for Australia.

Support Business Development

  • Help build relationships with potential supporters and members.
  • Promote membership benefits and encourage member success-sharing.
  • Attend relevant meetings and events.

About You

The Membership Coordinator will have a strong understanding of managing and developing relationships with new and existing stakeholders, ideally built through experience at a membership organisation.

They will excel at communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

The coordinator is a brand ambassador for our mission so they should have a passion for sustainability as well as the confidence to espouse our vision.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

  • BS/BA in agriculture or a related discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • Three or more years of experience related to membership engagement, stakeholder management, client relationships, industry communications and/or project management.
  • An excellent knowledge of the agriculture sector and a deep understanding of its nuances and complexities, including how it interacts with the broader supply chain.
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent industry experience in sustainable agriculture or a related field.
  • Successful track record in cultivating relationships and a history of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
