The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country. We aim to provide a holistic response to women, with and without accompanying children, who are experiencing domestic and family violence and related homelessness, emphasising the principles of empowerment, self-determination, and an acknowledgement of the dynamics of domestic violence in a socio-political context.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced, female Team Leader who will be responsible for the joint operational leadership of the family violence response at a women's crisis accommodation service.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this is a permanent, full-time, weekday position based on Gadigal Land in Surry Hills, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 6.

Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide confident leadership and strategic direction to a multidisciplinary team including reflective practice, coaching, mentoring and professional development.
  • Safety and Accountability: Oversee the implementation of rigorous risk assessment and risk management frameworks in case management and safety planning.
  • Child-Centred Leadership: Champion a child-centred approach across all services.
  • Service Innovation and Development: Lead the continuous improvement of family violence services, integrating evidence-based practices.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders.
  • Service delivery: Provide effective and efficient delivery of in-house, outreach, support worker, and afterhours response services.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Provide accessible and welcoming services which respects, celebrates and responds to individuals' culture, identity and lived experience.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related discipline.
  • Experience in the family violence sector and coordinating residential settings / leading teams.
  • A commitment to The Salvation Army's mission and values.
  • Computer efficacy, with experience in mainstream IT software.
