Due to a newly created program, our client SAGE Community Services is seeking skilled and experienced Domestic and Family Violence Caseworkers who will work to ensure high quality, timely, trauma informed services are provided the Western Sydney Northwest and Southwest Metropolitan districts.

About the Opportunity

The role includes proactively contacting men who have recently experienced domestic or family violence to assess DFV risk, create safety plans, offer information and referrals provide case management services as identified (including face to face support where appropriate).

  • There are 3 vacancies being advertised:
    • Part Time 35hpw (5 days)
    • Part Time 28hpw (4 days)
    • Part Time 28hpw (4 days)
  • The option to work 1 days/wk from home
  • SCHADS Award Level 5
  • Based in Pendle Hill, however some transport will be required across the funded districts

The Safer Pathway Local Support Services is a NSW Government funded program that supports male victim/survivors of domestic and family violence (aged over 16) through tailored, coordinated services based on their needs and level of threat to their safety.

About the organisation

SAGE is a community-based family support service for families in the Parramatta and Cumberland local government areas. The organisation has been delivering funded services since 1978, with the Department of Communities and Justice providing core funding for current programs.

SAGE provides an efficient, preventative service to families who seek support to improve their well-being. They address issues such as child development and behaviour, parenting strategies, strengthening parent / child relationships, social isolation and family violence. The centre provides a variety of services for families, including information, referral, community development, counselling, support services, home visits and group work.

What you’ll need to succeed

The role requires demonstrated skills in providing counselling to clients with complex needs. A trauma sensitive practice will inform your approach. You will have a passion for supporting victims/survivors of DFV and have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications e.g., Social Work, Social Sciences
  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience working with people impacted by domestic and family violence
  • Demonstrated experience providing client focused, collaborative, flexible, case management, including developing case plans, undertaking risk assessments, conducting home visits, providing information and referral and advocacy
  • Demonstrated experience networking and working collaboratively with other stakeholders both internal and external
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills both day to day and in crisis situations
  • Ability to work both independently and within a small team
  • High level of computer literacy (including office 365, online information client management systems)
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the needs and rights of people from diverse backgrounds, e.g., Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities, LGBQTIA+ communities, and people living with a disability
  • Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Current WWCC and Police Check
