About the opportunity

This newly created position plays a pivotal role in streamlining the recruitment, development, and retention of staff members. You will champion all aspects of human resources management within the organisation, including but not limited to recruitment, training, performance management, and compliance in a changing aged care industry.
Just a taste of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Develop and implement effective HR strategies and policies
  • Lead the recruitment process
  • Provide guidance to managers about employee relations matters
  • Champion WHS initiatives
  • Key stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Identify and implement staffing requirements for efficient operations
  • Collaborate with senior management

About the organisation

Our client, Abel Tasman Village is a reputable Residential aged care facility (RACF) located in the serene neighbourhood of Chester Hill with 74 beds and a thriving Homecare business of over 50 packages dedicated to providing exceptional care for our residents, they pride themselves on fostering a warm and supportive environment where individuals can thrive. With over 120 dedicated staff members, including over 40 long-standing team members, they are committed to providing exceptional care and services to our residents. As they continue to expand and develop our Independent Living Units (ILU), they anticipate exciting growth opportunities in the next five years.

What you will need to succeed

This isn’t your first job in HR, you will be an experienced and passionate professional, with enthusiasm to take on this new role to improve the HR function in the organisation. You are comfortable operating at both operational and strategic levels to support organisational objectives.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management (membership to AHRI is advantageous)
  • Proven experience in a HR role (preferably within the healthcare or aged care sector)
  • Understanding of and respect for relevant employment laws and regulations in Australia and keeping abreast of changes
  • Experience managing end to end recruitment of personnel into the business
  • Experience interpreting Modern Awards and coaching managers on implementing them (preferrable an EBA also)
  • Experience creating policies & procedures in line with best practice
  • Ability to handle private/sensitive information with discretion and uphold confidentiality
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing deadlines
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to monitor and track projects and targets
  • Experience in planning and implementing change initiatives to improve organisational performance and to align with business objectives
  • Strong skills in attention to detail
