Due to a newly created program, our client SAGE Community Services are seeking a skilled, compassionate and motivated Multicultural Domestic and Family Violence Intake Worker/Case Worker to join their small supportive team.

About the Opportunity…

In this role you will be the first point of contact for women requiring support. You will assess the needs of individuals requiring support and identify and ensure they are directed to appropriate programs or agencies.

  • There is 1 vacancy being advertised
  • Part Time
  • 35 hours (5 days a week)
  • SCHADS Award Level 3 (dependant on experience)
  • Based in Pendle Hill, however some transport will be required across the funded districts

SAGE is a community-based family support service for families in the Parramatta and Cumberland local government areas. The Department of Community Services has funded the organisation since 1978.

SAGE provides an efficient, preventative service to families who seek support to improve their well-being. They address issues such as child development and behaviour, parenting strategies, strengthening parent / child relationships, social isolation and family violence. The centre provides a variety of services for families, including information, referral, community development, counselling, support services, home visits and group work.

What you’ll need to succeed…

The role requires demonstrated skills in providing counselling to clients with complex needs. A trauma sensitive practice will inform your approach. You will have a passion for supporting victims/survivors of DFV and have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills.

Selection Criteria…

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications e.g., Social Work, Social Sciences, Diploma of Community Services
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence and clients with complex support needs
  • Commitment to supporting the needs and rights of people from diverse backgrounds, e.g., Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities, people from LGBQTIA+ communities, and people living with a disability
  • Capacity to undertake needs assessments, provide information and referrals and develop case plans
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other stakeholders both internal and external
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills both day to day and in crisis situations
  • Ability to work both independently and within a small team
  • High level of computer literacy (including office 365, online information client management systems)
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills
  • Current driver’s licence and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Current WWCC and Police Check
