We are seeking Program Coordinator to lead our weekly Women's program, for young women and those who identify as female (aged around 16 - 25) with a connection to the Inner-North Melbourne. The program aims to develop leadership skills and embrace community through fun, weekly activities. Our program is participant-led, and will run face-to-face and online in North Melbourne.

Hotham Mission is a small, faith-based community organisation providing community support for people in Melbourne's Inner-North area, with a particular focus on young people and supporting their continued education. Hotham Mission delivers support in close partnership with various community organisations, local service providers and schools.

Hotham Mission welcomes applicants from all backgrounds who are willing to contribute their knowledge, expertise, skills, time and energy to support the programs, we are committed to non-discrimination in recruiting volunteers. As program participants may be from a CALD background, those from a CALD background are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will be responsible for the young women in attendance, staff and volunteers. Promoting a safe space for their active participation, scheduling and planning activities, promoting the program and working with other stakeholders and staff. As the Program Coordinator you will also be responsible for supervising a small number of paid staff and volunteers.

Roles and responsibilities

  • You have the relevant experience and qualifications
  • Promotion of the education support programs and recruitment of new participants
  • Demonstrated ability to plan programs, events, or activities with young people
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver activities and facilitate discussions with groups of young people/ young women.
  • Awareness of issues faced by young women
  • The ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Recruitment, management and support of volunteers and staff (includes induction of new volunteers)
  • Keeping records of attendance, tutorial sessions and monitoring program progress over time
  • Conduct an annual survey and program assessment
  • Conduct exit surveys with volunteers when they leave
  • Liaising with families and guardians of program participants
  • Participating in various local youth networks as required

This role will be paid at SCHADS award level 3.1 (casual).
