We are a 3rd Schedule Aged Rehabilitation hospital, situated in Waverley, owned and operated by Uniting and part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). Services are comprised of 24-hour inpatient care, Monday to Friday outpatient departments, iREAP Day Rehabilitation program, several specialist community teams inclusive of Transitional Aged Care, Aged Care Assessment Team, Geriatric Flying Squad, Young Onset Dementia, and day centre program, 24-hour accommodation service for regional guests and the full range of hospital support services. It is set within beautiful tranquil grounds and is a well-supported team environment.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate HR Business Partner to support Uniting War Memorial Hospital (UWMH) in Waverley, providing dedicated HR services to our executive team, managers, and workforce. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant community  while enjoying a flexible, part-time role.

About the Role:

As the onsite HR Business Partner, you will be a trusted advisor and coach to senior leaders at UWMH, playing a key role in formulating HR strategies that enhance workforce engagement, attraction, and retention. You will collaborate closely with UWMH and the broader Uniting team, delivering high-quality HR solutions to ensure the success of both.

This role offers exposure to Uniting and UWMH as an Affiliated Health Organisation funded by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD), meaning you’ll be working within a dual governance framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite HR support, acting as the main HR contact for the UWMH team.
  • Partner with UWMH executive and people managers to address HR needs, providing insights, strategies, and coaching.
  • Implement HR strategies that align with both Uniting and UWMH requirements, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and public health guidelines.
  • Conduct data analysis and use workforce insights to inform leadership decisions, supporting attraction, retention, and growth plans.
  • Lead workforce improvement projects and change management initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong networks within SESLHD to manage public health obligations and workforce requirements.
  • Ensure accurate HR reporting and assist with budgeting processes related to workforce management.

What You’ll Need:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in healthcare, NFP, or complex organisational settings.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic HR advice and coaching to senior executives and managers.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment legislation, and workforce analytics.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to navigate complex organisations.
  • Ability to manage projects, influence stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements and experience with quality accreditation processes.
