About the role:

This is a full-time fixed period contract until July 2025 (70 hours per fortnight) located on the Central Coast NSW. $76,938 starting base salary, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options.

About the opportunity:

This exciting role is within our Doorways Youth Central Coast team, as a part of our Specialist Homelessness Service and aims to support Young People aged 18 -24y years. We are looking for an experienced caseworker, who can provide information, advice and referral, "drop-in support", crisis services, client-focussed and strengths-based casework that is driven by the needs of young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness on the Central Coast.

You will be responsible for case working with young people who are at imminent risk of homelessness to remain safely in their existing housing or refer them to housing providers to secure stable housing. You will be required to be available to work from our Doorways Hub at Wyong as the program requires.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Support: Provide strength’s-based casework addressing various issues like accommodation, mental health, and education.
  • Relationship Building: Develop working relationships with young people to meet their accommodation needs and enhance their social and community skills. Strengthen connections with other services and agencies in the Central Coast Region.
  • Advocacy and Facilitation: Advocate for young people, assist in identifying social justice issues, and participate in community activities such as Youth Week and NAIDOC week.
  • Administration: Maintain client records, including case notes and plans, and participate in team communication and decision-making processes.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a casework setting.
  • Understanding of issues affecting homeless young people and experience in casework support and referral.
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, mediation, conflict resolution, and written skills. Proficient in using computers and data collection systems.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Current NSW WWCC.
  • Even Better – Experience working in a homelessness support setting.
