About the role

The Case Manager in the Family Services team at VACCA supports Aboriginal people and families referred to the Family Services program. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team of qualified professionals. The Case Manager collaborates with parents/carers, families, key partners, and stakeholders to provide integrated family support services addressing the needs of Aboriginal children and families. They empower families to share their stories in culturally appropriate, trauma-informed ways through engagement, information gathering, and planning processes.

About You

The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to the values underpinning VACCA's vision and purpose and works in a culturally respectful manner with Aboriginal youth, families, and communities to foster and maintain cultural connections. They possess a deep understanding of the impact of colonisation, intergenerational trauma, and related issues on Aboriginal families, children, and young people, especially those involved with Child Protection. The candidate applies evidence-informed practice approaches, including Cultural and Common Elements, and exhibits excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, enabling them to work both independently and within a small team while maintaining up-to-date case notes. They excel in developing trusting relationships with families, supporting them in setting and achieving goals, and have proven experience in collaborating with other organisations to achieve mutually agreed client and community outcomes.

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social work and/or substantial experience in these fields.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver's Licence.
