The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
Join our Family Services team as a Case Manager, supporting Aboriginal families referred to the VACCA program. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated, culturally sensitive support. Work closely with parents, carers, key partners, and stakeholders to address the unique needs of Aboriginal children and families. Empower families to share their stories and actively participate in decision-making through trauma-informed engagement and planning, promoting self-determination.
Demonstrated commitment to VACCA’s values and vision is essential. You must be able to work respectfully and competently with Aboriginal young people, their families, and communities to foster and maintain cultural connections. A deep understanding of the impact of colonisation, intergenerational trauma, and related issues on Aboriginal families, especially those involved with Child Protection, is required. The role demands the ability to apply evidence-informed practices, including Cultural and Common Elements.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are vital, along with the ability to work independently and within a small team while maintaining up-to-date case notes. You should be adept at building trusting relationships and supporting families, children, and young people in setting and achieving goals. Experience in collaborating with other organisations to achieve mutually agreed outcomes is necessary.
Qualifications include a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Community Services, Social Work, or substantial experience in these fields.
