The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.
Our strength lies with our people.
The Foster Care Program at VACCA offers a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal children and young people in foster care placements. Our dedicated team provides comprehensive support to children, their families, and carers, prioritising family reunification whenever feasible. Case Managers play a crucial role, employing a trauma-informed approach to deliver personalised casework and management services. They conduct regular visits, support foster carers, and implement Cultural Support Plans that emphasise the well-being and cultural responsiveness of each child in our care. Join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of Aboriginal children through compassionate and culturally sensitive support.
We are seeking a candidate with a demonstrated commitment to VACCA's vision and values, including extensive experience engaging with Aboriginal families and children. The role requires strong advocacy skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully across diverse stakeholders. You will excel in identifying and addressing cultural competency needs among carers, including non-Aboriginal carers, and demonstrate proficiency in case management. Strong conceptual and writing abilities are essential for preparing detailed reports, including Incident, Quarterly, and Court Reports. Proficiency in computer systems and organisational skills to ensure compliance with carer and youth requirements round out this dynamic role.
We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people to apply
