About the role

This position is responsible for managing referral intake, conducting assessments, and addressing the immediate needs of Aboriginal clients seeking support through the Orange Door Hub. The Hub comprises a multidisciplinary team of practitioners dedicated to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective responses to Aboriginal women, children, men, and families. This role involves providing short-term support and referring clients to relevant agencies for additional assistance as needed.

About You

This role requires demonstrated knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors, along with experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children. The successful candidate will have expertise in intake procedures and comprehensive assessments to determine client's needs and formulate appropriate interventions.

Proven skills in case management are essential, including the ability to identify goals, create care plans, and effectively respond to crises. Proficiency in preparing accurate documents and reports promptly is required. The candidate must possess strong, culturally appropriate, and respectful communication skills with individuals, families, and professionals.

Additionally, this role demands experience in Child well-being assessments and Family Violence risk assessments, with a knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Best Interest Case Practice Model and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Management (MARAM) Framework, applying a cultural lens to these frameworks.

  • A degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications policy or significant lived experience relevant to the work
  • Minimum two years' experience in the Family Violence sector
  • Where a degree is commenced but not completed, salary will be fixed at Award Level 4 until successful completion
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver's Licence.
