VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 33 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

This is a maternity backfill role.

The Human Resources team (HR) provides support and advice to managers and staff on the full range of people management functions, such as recruitment, performance management, contract management and health and well-being.

The purpose of the Human Resources Officer position is to provide HR operational support across the employment life cycle as well as undertaking HR projects on an ad hoc basis. This role is achieved by delivering timely, professional, and proactive HR support services throughout the organisation, adding value and contributing to continuous improvements in the team and across the organisation. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent organisational ability, sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.

Desirable

  • A qualification in Human Resources and /or lived experience in this field
  • Experience in recruitment and onboarding
  • An understanding of HRM Platforms (we use IntelliHR)
  • A knowledge of Fair Work, National Employment Standards (NES) and current legislation
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality
