VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

We have 33 member Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations providing support to over 65,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the state. We lead and support Aboriginal Community Control and the broader health and social services sector to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal communities in Victoria. About the role

The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting key initiatives of the Screening and Early Detection program. This position will focus on the coordination of the Beautiful Shawl Project, a joint project with BreastScreen Victoria to work with ACCOs and Aboriginal led services to plan and deliver this empowering breast screening initiative with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women.

The position will work closely with other VACCHO Population Health Unit team members, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community members, our Member organisations and key stakeholders including cancer agencies and health services. This role will include the development and implementation of projects, Community engagement, drafting progress reports and contributing to evaluation of projects. The role will also include working with our Communications team to develop resources and messaging relevant to each project. Travel will be required across the state to support our Members as needed when the Beautiful Shawl Project is being delivered, and to support the delivery of other projects as required.

Essential skills/experiences

To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as a Project Officer. You will have sound judgement, a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, and strong communication skills, with willingness to take the initiative.
