Case Manager - Staying Home Leaving Violence - Georges River

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre

ABOUT US

Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.

Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and systemic disadvantage. Equally we seek to address the underlying causes of gender-based violence through primary prevention activities with communities and private and public entities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender-based violence in a generation.

THE ROLE

The Staying Home, Leaving Violence (SHLV) program is a government-funded initiative that aims to prevent homelessness and disruption to support systems for women who are in an abusive relationship. The Case Manager - SHLV provides case management and case coordination services, working with women and children who are referred into the SHLV program.

The role provides a range of support, such as safety planning, improving home security, and support for children. This is a predominately community-based role attending safety action meetings, conducting regular home visits, completing safety audits, and supporting women through legal proceedings.

The Case Manager - SHLV will help to facilitate community-based education around Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) by working closely with community partners and stakeholders. The role collaborates with NSW Police regarding safety matters, such as Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs).

The role will require travel and flexible working arrangements between community outreach, WAGEC's Burwood sites, and work from home. A car and NSW Drivers Licence are required for this role.

About you

  • You have 3-5 years' experience providing case management services for women and children who are experiencing DFV and are skilled in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety plans
  • You're a strong communicator, able to engage community partners and work across sectors to improve outcomes and referral pathways for clients
  • You're able to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative in balancing your workload with client and team needs
  • You're able to use your understanding of NSW and government service systems to help navigate support pathways and advocate with your clients.
  • Your case management practice is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches and you collaborate in culturally respectful ways.
