Child and Young Person Case Manager

Women's and Girls' Emergency Centre

ABOUT US

Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, grassroots organisation that supports women and families in crisis and advocates for social change in the community. We work on the lands of the Gadigal, Wangal and Dharug people of the Eora Nation.

Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. We do this by providing material aid, case management, biopsychosocial support, accommodation, and crisis responses. Equally, we seek to address the underlying causes of gender based violence through primary prevention activities with communities that want to be a part of the global movement to end gender based violence in a generation.

THE ROLE

As a Child and Young Person (CYP) Case Manager, you will work in partnership with other workers and the family/carers to support children and young people whose lives are impacted by homelessness and domestic and family violence. You will focus on trauma-informed intervention strategies to engage and sustain program participation of the children and their families while they reside within crisis accommodation and transitional housing settings.

You will engage and support children, young people and families in identifying strengths, safety and well-being needs, and desired outcomes. You will complete an initial safety and well-being assessment and then a case plan that builds on the family’s resilience and links them to appropriate networks.

This is a full-time, permanent role.

The core responsibilities of this role are:

  • Provide case management directly with children and young people in partnership with the parents/carers, ensuring that their needs are identified and addressed appropriately
  • Deliver programs to parents/carers and children and young people with the aim to increase parental capacity and support the healing and recovery journey from trauma
  • Work collaboratively with WAGEC teams and external stakeholders to find pathways for support for clients
  • Conduct risk and needs assessments, assist with safety planning and referrals to other services
  • Provide occasional after-hours On-Call duties as part of a rotating roster
  • Work collaboratively to support team operations and contribute to team goals
  • Proactively and positively contribute to WAGEC’s culture and impact
