The Coffs Clarence Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service provides services and support to women experiencing domestic violence. We provide services to Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Maclean Courts.
We are seeking to employ a Women’s Domestic Violence Specialist Worker on a fixed term contract for 35 hours to work from our offices in Coffs Harbour and Grafton. A Job share arrangement will also be considered if a full-time position is not suitable for you.
The DFV Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focus) exercises a high degree of autonomy and provides high-level advice regarding how to ensure the WDVCAS is relevant, accessible and responsive to Aboriginal women and their children.
Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification. An Aboriginal person is defined under section 4 (1) of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) as a person who:
(a) is a member of the Aboriginal race of Australia, and
(b) identifies as an Aboriginal person, and
(c) is accepted by the Aboriginal community as an Aboriginal person.
Being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
