Specialist Family Violence Intensive Case Management Practitioner

The Risk Assessment and Management Panel (RAMP) sits within the Wayss Family Violence and High Risk Response program. RAMP involves members from key agencies and organisations that contribute to the safety of women and children experiencing serious and imminent threat from family violence.

About the role

The Specialist Family Violence Intensive Case Management Practitioner role provides intensive case management support to clients and any accompanying children assessed to be at serious family violence risk. Working closely with the RAMP Coordinator, the practitioner works intensively with clients to reduce their level of family violence risk and to provide the immediate and ongoing support needed to assist recovery from family violence.

The position works collaboratively with the Victoria Police Family Violence Investigation Unit, Child Protection, Community Corrections and other specialist agencies.

Duties include

  • Undertaking risk assessments using the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM) and other appropriate risk tools.
  • Facilitating safety planning with the client.
  • Developing and implementing a support plan for every client that includes an assessment of their social support needs.
  • Assisting the client to access support services and providers identified in their plan.
  • Presenting cases to RAMP meetings and providing advocacy on behalf of the client.
  • Liaising with external organisations such as the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), The Orange Door, Child and Family Services providers, AOD and Mental Health Services.
  • Liaising with Wayss Specialist Family Violence and Housing Services programs.
  • Acting as Deputy RAMP Coordinator when required.
  • Providing advocacy and support for clients.

About you

The successful candidates will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social or Behavioural Science, Psychology or other relevant discipline at degree level or above.
  • Minimum of two (2) years Specialist Family Violence Practitioner experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in:
    • Family Violence Risk assessment using MARAM.
    • Safety planning.
    • Client needs assessment.
    • Advocacy and support.
    • Client Referrals.
    • Working within a multi-agency environment.
    • Working independently with limited direction.
  • Excellent client engagement skills with a high level of confidence in dealing with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience improving service delivery and practice.
  • Computer skills with a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.

This role requires a valid Working With Children Check Card. The candidate will need to have successfully completed Wayss’ pre-employment screening and a police check, and provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination compliance.
