Women’s Community Shelters is a network of nine shelters for homeless women and homeless women accompanied by children across NSW. We are recruiting for a casual Support Worker to work in a crisis accommodation service at our shelter in The Hills District.

Various shifts are available.

The Support Worker will be expected to create a safe supportive and welcoming environment for women and children accessing our shelter and work collaboratively with the Sanctuary team to ensure that service users are engaged with appropriate supports.  

Essential criteria: 

  • Cert IV in Community Services or Minimum 5 years’ experience working with victims of domestic and family violence.
  • Demonstrated experience within the community services sector in a case worker capacity, preferably in Women’s services. 
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of family violence and abuse and how best to support survivors, including the impacts of trauma on children and young people.
  • An understanding of Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills 
  • Ability to use online case management systems 
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement
  • Current Working with Children Check 
  • Police Check
  • The right to live and work in Australia
