Board Members (Voluntary)

Women's Health in the South East
  • Seeking Board Members (Ordinary)

Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) is one of 12 Women’s Health Services in Victoria whose role is to improve health and wellbeing of women.

WHISE delivers services and programs in the South East of Melbourne and we cover 10 Local Council Areas from the Cardinia Shire, through to Stonnington and Port Phillip Councils, and down to the Mornington Peninsula.

Women’s Health Services are not-for-profit organisations, funded by the State Government, that take action through health promotion and primary prevention strategies on health issues that are specific to women.

Each Health Service has its own unique program of work and activities, informed by their partners and community which seeks to create population wide change and address social determinants of health – the circumstances in which women grow, live, work and age, the systems that are put in place to deal with disease and illness as well as the conditions in which people live and die which are shaped by political, social and economic forces. (World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Social Determinants of Health).

WHISE works within a feminist framework and our vision is to see that all women in our region are safe, healthy and thriving.

Right now, WHISE is focused on:

  • Preventing Violence against Women in the South East of Melbourne
  • Promoting and celebrating optimal sexual and reproductive health
  • Building capacity and capability of the regional prevention workforce
  • Empowering partners, communities and stakeholders to take action to create gender equity
