Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is a place based community agency that strives for the empowerment of individuals and groups within the local community who face disadvantage, isolation and obstacles to effective social and economic participation. The agency is committed to developing responsive approaches to meet the challenges posed by Whittlesea's changing and emerging communities. Funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, the Parent Pathways service offers parents the ability to access a range of services and complementary programs that take into account individual needs including their caring responsibilities. Parent Pathways aims to support parents is designed based on the principles of being voluntary, flexible, tailored, holistic and culturally appropriate.

Key responsibilities as part of this role include:

• Engaging parents where they are at, developing trusted and culturally safe relationships. This includes meeting parents in accessible locations (eg libraries, community centres) and with an understanding of where they are at in their lives.
• Establishing referral pathways to enable parents to access the help they need. This may include counselling, financial advice, domestic and family violence support, parenting courses, child care, transport, further education, secure housing, training and volunteering.
• Developing a Goal Plan with parents addressing categories such as personal health and wellbeing, parenting and family, education and training, employment, social networking and financial literacy. In response to the Goal Plan provide tailored support through the provision of information, referral and connection to available resources and supports.
