Senior Capacity Building Officer

In this new role, the Senior Capacity Building Officer will play a pivotal role in responding to new opportunities to design capacity building programs, initiatives and resources to drive gender transformative health systems. The role will ensure that new programs and health initiatives are grounded in evidence, incorporate best practices, and are targeted to address the changing needs of the target audience.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Designing and developing new programs and capacity building initiatives that address the needs of target populations and align with WHV focus areas and respond to emerging opportunities for impact;
• Developing health promotion initiatives to build capacity to apply a gendered lens in the systems and settings across the social model of health;
• Conducting needs assessments and stakeholder consultations to ensure program design is responsive and informed by evidence / community input. This includes engaging with key stakeholders, communities, partner organisations and government agencies;
• Working in partnership with key internal stakeholders to pilot new programs and capacity building initiatives and develop a pipeline of programs aligned to WHV’s strategy and focus areas, proactively designing new initiatives to engage potential funding partners;
• Developing detailed program implementation plans including timelines, work plans and resource allocation to guide the roll out of new programs;
• Working closely with partners and/or service delivery teams to ensure the program design is feasible, adaptable and scalable; and
• Preparing reports and presentations for the leadership team to communicate program design, objectives and expected outcomes, with a focus on identifying areas for improvement.

Amongst other selection criteria, as an ideal candidate, you’ll have:

• Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, gender studies, program management, community development, public health, training and/or a related field.
• A minimum of five years' experience in program design, development and delivery in health or related social policy area.
• Experience in not for profit or government sector (preferred).
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (preferred).
• Experience with stakeholder engagement and/or partnership development as it relates to workforce capacity building
• Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to conduct needs assessments and apply evidence to program design.
• Familiarity with LMS’s and other relevant software packages.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Creative and innovative thinker with a passion for designing impactful programs.
