Tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, culturally appropriate, legal advice and casework to clients, including representation in ACT and Commonwealth courts, in family law and family violence matters and if appropriate, Child protection matters.
  • Work collaboratively with the Cultural Support Workers and Paralegals, and partner organisations to meet client needs and ensure services are integrated.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a trauma-informed service delivery model, with a personal commitment to reflection and self-care.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and support the delivery of Mulleun Mura’s services through partnerships.

Qualifications & experience

  • Admitted to practice/eligible to apply for a restricted practicing certificate in the Australian Capital Territory.
  • Experience in family law, including case work and family law litigation experience.

About the Program

The Mulleun Mura Program sits within the Family Law Practice of WLC. The WLC is a community legal centre specialising in family law, migration, employment, discrimination and sexual harassment and sexual violence. WLC provides legal services within a multi-disciplinary, trauma informed practice model that incorporates cultural support and collaborative services to provide wraparound support to women.
