About the program

Wesley Out of School Hours Care (Wesley OOSH) provides primary school-aged children with high-quality before and after-school care and vacation care. We currently have 12 services across Sydney and the Central Coast Sydney and are passionate about providing a warm, caring and engaging environment for children, staff, and families. We believe it is important that every child in our care feels at home in a secure environment where they can grow and learn.

About the role

As the Pedagogy & Recruitment Coordinator, you will be vital in guiding and mentoring new educators from the beginning of their journey. Beyond recruitment and training, your responsibilities extend to developing robust quality systems that empower educators. You’ll ensure that all Wesley OOSH care staff receive proper induction in alignment with Wesley Mission’s standards and Early Childhood Education and Care regulations. Collaborating closely with the Head of OOSH, you’ll foster a culture of excellence within the portfolio, support its growth in line with Wesley Mission’s strategy, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.

To be successful in this position, you will have strong leadership qualities, be passionate, and love working as part of a fast-paced team, with a passion for ensuring our staff are supporting our children to be the best they can be. You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated. You will also have a cooperative approach to working with stakeholders.

Essential criteria

  • minimum current Cert IV in Children Services
  • experience in Out of School Hours Care services
  • firm understanding of the National Quality Framework and how it relates to service delivery
  • proven experience in staff development
  • demonstrated skills in developing an in-house training program to appropriately onboard staff
  • proven organisational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines and budgets
  • work closely with the stakeholders of the business, developing relationships and support conflict resolutions as they arise
  • demonstrable skills in conflict resolution, change management, and financial management
  • thorough attention to detail
  • excellent written and verbal skills, public speaking, and presentation capabilities
  • outstanding interpersonal skills, flexibility, patience, and ability to relate well to all levels of society that Wesley Mission interacts with
  • proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Desirable criteria

  • not-for-profit or cause-related management experience
  • appreciation of the challenges involved in managing a diverse workforce within a not-for-profit environment
  • design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop)
