About us

Wesley Mission is a high profile, multi-faceted Christian organisation making a real difference in the community. We work with the most disadvantaged in our community by providing over 200 services ranging from aged care, homeless services, child and family care, counselling, employment, training and education, and health services.

About the program

Opportunity Pathways Social Impact Investment (OP-SII) is funded by Department of Communities and Justice. It is a voluntary and non-obligational employment program that aims to improve the training, education and employment outcomes of Social Housing Clients leading to greater housing independence where appropriate. With OP-SII being a voluntary program, a participant engaged in the program wanting support will be assigned to a Workplace Mentor, who will provide a strength-based approach, case management and wrap-around supports for them to achieve their individual goals.

Essential skills/knowledge

  • Certificate IV or higher and/or experience in the following: Community Services, Employment Services, Education, Youth or Disability Services.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with clients with complex mental health needs.
  • Demonstrated experience achieving contractual and organisational KPIs.
  • Excellent time management and negotiation skills.
  • Current full driver’s license.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft and Client Management applications.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable skills/knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in employment services or case management services working with vulnerable people in a community-based context.
  • Ability to engage with employers, service providers, clients and their communities to address vocational and non-vocational barriers.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by people from a disadvantaged background who may be accessing social housing.
