About the opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team at Wimmera Orange Door. The Orange Door Program brings together workforces from Community Service Organisations, Aboriginal Services, Family Safety Victoria and DFFH, to deliver an integrated practice model and a consolidated intake point for:

  • Women, children, young people and families who are experiencing or have experienced family violence
  • perpetrators of family violence
  • Families requiring support with the care, development and wellbeing of unborn babies, infants, children and young people

As an Orange Door Practitioner, you will operate collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, safe, and effective responses to children, young people, and families facing family violence. In this role, you will also focus specifically on the provision of services to vulnerable families who require extra support with the care, development and wellbeing of infants, children and young people.

About you

You are looking to join an organisation that truly supports vulnerable Victorians and Tasmanians to improve their lives.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent; or
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience or have a related qualification relevant to child and family welfare as per the mandatory minimum qualifications for family violence practitioners; or
  • Significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and have faced barriers to educational pathways as per the mandatory minimum qualifications for family violence practitioners.
  • A current Drivers Licence valid in Victoria
  • Demonstrated ability as a practitioner in the child, youth and family welfare field including experience in undertaking comprehensive risk and needs assessments and risk management responses
  • A commitment to the family-centred approach and the family strengthening and empowerment models of practice
  • An understanding of the ‘Best Interests’ framework, CYFA 2005, Family Violence Protection Act 2008, FVISS, CISS and MARAM frameworks is desirable
  • An understanding of the gendered nature of family violence
