About This Opportunity

Women Illawarra is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our volunteer program, managing recruitment and suitable placement for potential volunteers.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Recruiting and managing volunteers.
  • Screening volunteers, including managing Working With Children and Police Checks
  • Interviewing and matching volunteers to roles based on skills and interests.
  • Recognising and appreciating our invaluable volunteers.
  • Addressing volunteer inquiries and offering guidance.
  • Drafting volunteer job descriptions and training materials.
  • Provide recommendations on how we can improve our volunteer program.
  • Attend Volunteer Expos and volunteer-related community events on behalf of the organisation.

In this role, you will be making a meaningful contribution to our organisation and will be part of a friendly and supportive team.

We're seeking a volunteer who is willing to commit 3-5 hours per week, offering their time on a flexible basis between Monday and Friday.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience with a long standing and highly reputable organisation which has provided a range of support services to women since 1979. You will have the chance to meet new people and build new relationships while being a part of a supportive and friendly team. We welcome candidates who are willing to learn and who have a basic understanding of work health and safety in the workplace.

Requirements

  • A current Working With Children Check
  • A current National Police Check

Time Required

Flexible – 3-5 hours per week between Monday to Friday.

Required skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Previous involvement in group facilitation/presenting to groups, or similar.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and share knowledge with a group of people.
  • Ability to manage discussions in a group setting, supporting ideas and encouraging inclusion of all group members.
  • An ability to remain calm under pressure and a robust/resilient attitude towards challenges.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Have initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Have a calm, patient, service-focused and positive approach when working with Women Illawarra staff, volunteers, clients, or stakeholders.
  • Ability to recognise when a client interaction needs escalation to a senior worker and to not become personally involved.
